Local pub with small-town feel but a huge atmosphere. Well priced, diverse soul food menu, friendly staff, cottage-rustic vibe and a nice selection of beer. We went on Wednesday Wing night and it was packed by 5:30 with a short line-up to get in. They had a table for us right away in a nice location. One of us wanted wings and asked if there were any dry-rubbed flavours, as there didn't appear to be any on the menu. To our delight they had a dry Cajun flavour that was excellent. Wings themselves were large and meaty and the vegetables that came with them were just enough and freshly cut. All of which was served with a generous stack of napkins and wet-wipes. The other ordered the aptly named "Long-Weekend Burger" complete with cheddar & Swiss, sautéed mushrooms & caramelized onions and opted for sweet-potato fries as a side for an additional cost. (I don't know about you, but whenever there's a "long-weekend" in my circle there's always bacon involved ~ but they had another burger with some on it) The burger itself was huge, juicy, and did not have a lot of added flavouring allowing the true taste of the beef to come through. This allowed the flavour to be somewhat customized with the good selection of condiments delivered to the table. Freshly cut tomatoes & red onion topped it under a nice Kaiser roll. Sweet potato fries were plentiful, crisp, long and lightly dusted with sea salt to be complimented by white or malt vinegar and/or their own house dip. Beers were served in a frosted glass, which compelled us to have more than one ~ otherwise this would be in the $11-25 range! Bathrooms were clean and adequate. House was well-kept. The only gripe we had was the dim lighting which made it hard to read the Trivial Pursuit cards at each table (which were a very nice touch, even though they were obviously an older US edition!) It's rare to have a great dining experience in such a packed house. Overall this was a great meal and it will likely become a default destination if we can't decide where else to try. Lire plus

Interesting and varied new menu items highlight a new season in this well-established eatery. The three-course Friday night special I had was truly wonderful, exciting, flavourful food. A mesclum mix was restrained by slices of cucumber, sliced lengthwise and curved to form a holder for the leaves, the whole drizzled with a piquant apple-based vinagrette. The pork tenderloin entree was three large pieces stuffed with a savoury dressing that was so tasty and plentiful that while I finished the pork, I took the rest of the stuffing home. Dessert was a chocolate/caramel custard in a crunchy pastry shell, topped with fresh strawberries and blackberries. Portion size gave good value for the price which was reasonable for the quality. Presentation throughout was as artistic as any classy place in Toronto but the outstanding things about the meal, to my mind, were the number of homemade items (dressing, stuffing, pudding, pastry) and the commitment to flavour everywhere. We went for Easter dinner with my dad who was in town and everybody enjoyed their meals. The ambience is nice, the place is clean and the food selection is bountiful. Our server was interactive, attentive and was very professional in a casual, non snobby way. We all enjoyed our meals! This is comparable to going to the Keg, but you can actually make a reservation and the crowds are never as crazy. I'd recommend this place to anybody! Lire plus

Looking for the best wings in Port?? They're at the Wiz! Wed is wing night so you can get 2lbs of wings for $8 a STEAL compared to other wing nights in town. Big, juicy & FLAVOURFUL!! Honey garlic is incredible, the best I have ever EVER had. Medium is quite hot so be prepared if you can't stand the heat, maybe go with mild. Usually we get a salad or drinks to start while we wait (as the service isn't the best). Although now they are giving you salsa & chips when you sit down which is great! I've eaten here many times since moving to the area and have introduced several friends to it now too. It's a small little place with a hockey theme. The booths are kind of small and can be a little claustrophobic, but there are tables out in the open area as well. The food is usually really good. I recommend their nachos. These are not your usual nachos, but are made with cross-cut potatoes with your nacho fixings on top (beef, jalapenos, cheese, olives, peppers). If you're not a big eater, just have this appetizer and you'll be full. The salads are fresh and there are usually some creative things on the specials board. Soups are good and homemade. And if you're a hockey fan, you might run into a few of the Owen Sound Attack on occasion too. Lire plus

Keeps a gluten free bread for sandwiches that is the best I have had! Also keeps a selection of g/f pastries that will challenge your diet with really decent deserts. The deserts are a little expensive but worth the splurge for a treat that will make you gld you did. Toppings are included with snadwich selections like pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, onions (real fine slices) etc.. This woman knows and understands how to make a gluten free sandwich this will delight any celiac or wheat avoider person. Always a smile and good friendly humour along with such a quaint atmosphere generated in this cozy place. Too bad supper isn't available as I would definitely impress guests visiting from the big cities, here. Coffee? All the fancy varieties in a huge mug!
