WaveDirect was a mixed bag of mostly average, somewhat acceptable service, with frequent service disruptions, inconsistent communication and somewhat misleading business practices.
I feel like they did their best as far as the actual *service* goes, given technology constraints, but they could improve the other areas of their business a little bit, too.
If you’re a casual user who isn’t relying on the internet for virtually everything they may suit you just fine.
I would have rated their service at 3.5 if possible but certainly not 4 out of 5. Wave direct cost is expensive and you must purchase a high end package to receive acceptable video streaming capability. The problem with a wireless service is that there are signal dropouts andat times interruptions of service. At a cost of over $100 per month... this is annoying to say the least. If I had an alternative... I would certainly consider switching to another technology / provider.
A few years ago I moved from the city into the county where my DSL provider could no longer service me. I work for a company that requires me to work from home with a VPN connection which requires a solid connection. After some research I came across Wavedirect. At that time they didn’t have a tower yet that could service me so I asked them to give me my options. They had done some dedicated wireless bridge connections for other businesses and were happy to give them as references. I called them and the references were excellent so I ordered a dedicated bridge to connect to my office which was about 5 miles away where I had DSL. This setup worked perfectly for a few years until my office got relocated. That was about 2 years ago. By then Wave Direct had expanded into my region and could now service me from one of their towers. I have had awesome service from them and can only sing praises. For my work I have to use a VPN connect which requires a very solid connection. If you have ever used a VPN you know what I mean. Even with my DSL connection in town I would occasionally get disconnected but with Wavedirect I have never had that problem. I transfer files from work at over 10Mbps and I never miss my old DSL service! I really appreciate the high bit cap too – Even with all the transferring I have to do, I have rarely reached my bit cap.
A few of my neighbors used to use one of the other wireless providers but all of them have now also switched to Wave Direct. I wish you all the best as you continue to grow your business! Thanks.
